Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation

Also called: CASL, Anti-Spam

The law governing commercial electronic messages, requiring consent, identification and an unsubscribe mechanism.

CASL requires express or implied consent before sending commercial electronic messages, plus clear sender identification and a working unsubscribe mechanism honoured promptly. Implied consent categories are time-limited.

Why it matters: CASL penalties are significant, and the rules apply to ordinary business development email, not just bulk marketing.
